The Malta Council For Science & Technology (MCST) is receiving proposals under the Internationalisation Partnership Awards Scheme Plus (IPAS+), offering all Maltese entities €6,000 to help engage EU consultants, like AcrossLimits, for coordinating Horizon Europe proposals.
The Scheme is divided into two options:
Option A: opportunities for collaborative initiatives between Maltese entities and at least one foreign entity of proven track record of excellence. Proposals should describe the nature of the joint activities that would be funded through the Award. Applicants are to demonstrate how the proposed activities contribute towards and align with achieving the goals of the National R&I Strategy, and to describe the potential of any activities to become self-sustaining or generate longer-term outcomes.
Option B: opportunities for Maltese entities intending to submit a Horizon Europe/Partnerships proposal as the coordinator of the consortium to engage a service provider (local or foreign) who will be supporting the applicant through proposal writing and submission. The amount of the Award available to any one successful applicant is capped at €6,000 per Option. Some exceptions regarding the financial capping for Option B can be found in the rules for participation. All projects are evaluated by a selection panel set up by MCST on the basis of evaluation criteria outlined in the Call text.
Under widening participation, the current calls that can be applied to are the following:
Excellence Hubs: A project which foresees the setting up cross-border ecosystems based on the quadruple helix (you will need 1 Private entity, 1 Public entity, 1 Academia and 1 Association/Civil society organisation / NGO from Malta and another 4 partners from another widening country)
Deadline: 7 March 2024
Number of Projects to be funded: 12-15
Funding per project: up to 6M Euros per project
ERA Chairs: This is a call aimed at helping Universities and Research Organisations to employ a Researcher who will set up a permanent research team within the institution to implement specific projects for the institution. This is a mono-beneficiary call.
Deadline: 7 March 2024
Number of Projects: 45
Funding per project: 1.5M to 2.5M per project
ERA Talents: This is a call aimed to boost interoperability of careers and employability of research and innovation talents across sectors, with a centre of gravity in widening countries.
Deadline: 26 September 2024
Number of Projects: 20
Funding per project: 1M – 3M
