EU Business Connect: Matchmaking for EU Funding Opportunities

Our latest EU Business Connect: Matchmaking for EU Funding Opportunities event took place on 29–30 April 2026 on the Partner-Hub.eu platform, bringing together startups, companies, researchers, and innovation stakeholders from across Europe and beyond.

Event Roundup

The event opened on 29 April with a short welcome webinar attended by a total of 71 participants. The session was led by Tamara Schembri, Malta’s National Contact Point for Horizon Europe (Culture, Creativity & Inclusive Society, Missions; New European Bauhaus), who gave participants a practical overview of relevant EU funding opportunities and introduced three Horizon Europe calls that went on to shape many of the discussions during the matchmaking sessions that followed.

These calls included:

  1. HORIZON-CL2-2026-01-HERITAGE-02: focusing on boosting creative startups and supporting disruptive innovation in the cultural and creative sectors.
  2. HORIZON-NEB-2026-01-BUSINESS-02: looking at how capital markets can better support investment in New European Bauhaus projects at neighbourhood level.
  3. HORIZON-CL4-2027-01-MAT-PROD-42: exploring how academic knowledge and intellectual assets can be better transferred into use by industry, SMEs, and startups.

Together, these calls reflect key EU priorities at the intersection of innovation, sustainability, cultural transformation, and industrial collaboration.

Following the webinar, participants moved into structured 1-to-1 online meetings. A total of 107 meetings were scheduled across the two day event, creating plenty of space for discussions, idea sharing, and early stage consortium building. During the meetings, participants were able to connect around shared interests and complementary expertise, leading to a wide range of really promising interactions.

Reflecting On The Event

Over two days, the platform was teeming with conversations, once again highlighting Partner-Hub’s critical role as a practical matchmaking space within the EU funding ecosystem, helping create structured and targeted connections that go beyond initial introductions. By making it easier to identify relevant partners, share expertise, and organise focused 1-to-1 discussions, the platform is quickly living up to its name as a real ‘hub’ where lasting partnerships are cultivated.

We would like to warmly thank all participants for their active engagement, openness, and contribution to the success of the event. Many of the conversations started during EU Business Connect are already continuing beyond the platform, and we look forward to building on these exchanges in the coming weeks and months. It is especially encouraging to see early signs of collaboration forming around the featured Horizon Europe calls, as well as across wider EU funding opportunities.

Upcoming Webinar – Trusting AI: Promise or Risk?

Our next event, Trusting AI: Promise or Risk? will take place on 08 June 2026 and will explore the growing relationship between Artificial Intelligence, ethics, and EU funding initiatives.

The webinar will feature contributions from AcrossLimits Founder and Managing Director Angele Giuliano, AcrossLimits expert Mariachiara Tirinzoni, and internationally recognised AI strategist and futurologist Ellen Gunning, who will share their perspectives on the ethical challenges and opportunities surrounding AI within the European landscape.

The session is open to organisations, researchers, SMEs, startups, and anyone interested in understanding how the EU is approaching AI and ethics across its programmes and policies.
