Ing. Joseph P. Sammut, M.Sc.(Adv.Eng.) (Warwick), B.Mech.Eng.(Hons), Eur.Ing., is the Founder and Chairman Emeritus of the Malta Life Sciences Park, a €30M, 13,000 square metre lab facility funded partially by EU Regional Development Funds. The park, under Malta Enterprise, houses 35 entities with over 450 employees.
A seasoned engineer, Ing. Sammut has extensive experience in private, public, and academic sectors, focusing on implementing engineering solutions. He was a founding member of key government bodies like the Malta Council for Science and Technology, the Malta Standards Authority, and the Building Industry Consultative Council, and a former President of the Chamber of Engineers.
He also served as Director of National Research Funds at MCST, supporting R&I in biotechnology, IT, manufacturing, and energy. Additionally, he was a Research Fellow at the University of Warwick, assisting aerospace giants like Airbus, Rolls Royce, and BAE with lean enterprise techniques, and managed technology transfer projects with MIT.
