We are delighted to share that MAYA – the Malta Youth in Agriculture Foundation, an inspiring organisation supporting young people engaged in sustainable farming, has been awarded Mobile Cascade Funding under the PoliRuralPlus initiative for Pilot 9 – Malta!
MAYA joins the PoliRuralPlus project through this competitive open call. Their winning proposal stood out for its innovative, data-driven approach to sustainable agriculture and rural resilience, perfectly aligned with Malta’s Regional Action Plan (RAP) goals.
What is PoliRuralPlus?
PoliRuralPlus is an EU-funded project aiming to foster sustainable, balanced, and inclusive development across rural and urban communities. Through digital tools, stakeholder engagement, and region-specific action plans, it supports nine pilot regions, including Malta, in building stronger rural-urban linkages and future-ready communities.
AcrossLimits & Pilot 9: Malta
As the lead organisation for the Maltese pilot, AcrossLimits is proud to be implementing the regional action plan for Malta. Our mission is to explore innovative ways of transforming rural challenges into sustainable opportunities.
The collaboration with MAYA marks an exciting milestone in this journey. Their project will not only contribute to the goals of Malta’s RAP but will also promote youth-led innovation in agri-tech.
What is the Mobile Cascade Funding mechanism?
The Mobile Cascade Funding mechanism is a vital component of PoliRuralPlus. It allows selected third-party organisations, like MAYA, to receive funding for high-potential initiatives that align with the project’s vision and enhance impact at the local level.
One key feature of MAYA’s proposal includes hosting an Ideathon, designed to bring together young minds, farmers, tech enthusiasts, and policymakers to co-create digital solutions for agriculture in Malta. This event will help drive community engagement, innovation, and actionable outcomes that serve the RAP.
Looking Ahead
We are genuinely excited to collaborate with MAYA in this new phase of the Malta pilot. By combining our skills and role within the project with their reach within the target sector, we’re laying the groundwork for a more resilient, digitally connected, and inclusive rural future.
Congratulations to MAYA and all involved in making this happen! We look forward to the work ahead and to sharing the progress as it unfolds.
Stay tuned!
