GREENPORT Alliances Project at its Midway Point

GREENPORT Alliances, funded by Erasmus+, has just reached its mid-term, marking a significant phase of the project. As the project focuses on driving behavioral change in port service operations, to support emission  reduction, the partners are currently engaged on the development of the learning material and innovative curricula to address this aspect.

GREENPORT brings together academia, industry and industry representative associations, and the project’s learning materials are being developed after a scientific analysis conducted with the project’s target groups. This involved collation of feedback, case study analysis, as well as information and knowledge exchange, which was consolidated into best practices as the basis of the way forward.

The consortium is now focusing on the development of the learning materials, specifically for the Higher Education and Vocational training curriculum, as well as a Train-the-Trainer element. The HEI curriculum will involve a 4-ECTS academic course for maritime students, combining theory, simulator tasks, and digital tools to build skills in eco-navigation, fuel efficiency, and emissions tracking. The Vocational Education & Training (VET) curriculum will involve a practical 12-hour course for tug, pilot boat, and port service personnel, focused on energy-saving operations, emissions monitoring, and digital coordination; On the other hand, the Train-the-Trainer (TTT) will involve a 20-hour professional development programme for maritime educators, equipping them to deliver sustainability-focused instruction using simulators, behaviour modelling, and case-based teaching.

Within this project, AcrossLimits, is leading the Communication and Dissemination of the aspect. We thus ensure that the project’s developments and outcomes are regularly communicated to the public. At AcrossLimits we are also working on the identification of  the right stakeholders which could have an impact over time to ensure the project’s sustainability beyond its lifetime. Based on our strong digital and IT expertise, AcrossLimits has a key role in assisting throughout this phase with the project branding and presentation of these learning materials, while also developing the e-Learning platform which will host the Train-the-Trainer modules.

In the coming months, these elements will be launched and tested through a pilot phase. Therefore, as we move to the second half of the project, AcrossLimits remains strongly committed in supporting the project’s visibility as well as reaching out to relevant stakeholders to make an impactful contribution to the sector.
